Short 10 Week Term Planner
Planning is a task all teachers must do. You either love it or you hate it, and I LOVE it!
I love it because my planning documents are purposeful. I refer to them and use them constantly throughout the term. No one wants to waste their time writing up planning documents only to file them away, never to see the light of day again.
In this blog post I’ll share with you one of my most useful and absolute favourite planning documents – My Short 10 Week Term Planner.
I am constantly referring to My Short 10 Week Planner throughout the school term. It really is my go-to planning document, keeping me on track and organised throughout the year. Since designing this short overview, I can now easily see at a glance what learning opportunities are coming up in the term, and I also know exactly when particular lessons and assessments are planned.
I designed this term overview to be a quick and easy reference. It really is just a very short overview of the term. I love that it's short, simple, and all on one page. I can quickly see everything I need to know about the upcoming term at a quick glance.
It saves me time and money
I take my term planner with me everywhere I go; to the library, the shops, and I even use it around the house as I gather class resources. This little overview of the term is a quick reference to help me select appropriate resources, and it ensures I have everything organised and ready to use when I need it.
Since creating My Short 10 Week Planner, I don’t impulse buy resources anymore. Now, I have a constant reminder of what resources I actually need to use. My school spending is purposeful now. No more impulse buying has saved me sooo much money!!
I find it handy to have two printed copies. The first copy goes under my transparent desk mat to refer to easily and quickly without having to sift through mounds of papers and documents. Pinning it up close by on a pinboard would work just as well.
I fold up the second printed copy and carry it with me in my handbag. This way, I always have the term planner as a reminder and a reference when I’m at the shops. You could also print one for your diary so you have an overview handy when making appointments or attending meetings.

I’m in a Queensland school so this planner is linked closely to the Prep - Foundation Year C2C documents. It also briefly outlines the play-based learning investigations I’ve planned for our Prep classroom. I like to ensure our play provocations align to the C2C curriculum.
