The HASS Geography journal is fully aligned to ACARA—Foundation level. The ACARA content descriptors addressed in each activity are listed at the bottom of each journal page.

Students will be able to use the journal to record and represent their knowledge and understandings of what places are like and what makes them special. The journal activities form part of the Geography strand of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Curriculum. The completed journal  activities can also be used as evidence of learning and to inform assessment grades.

I usually compile the pages into a booklet for the children. There are 10 pages of different activities so students could complete one activity for each week of a 10 week term. There are also 3 bonus alternative pages and activities so you can mix and match the journal pages to suit your needs.

You might prefer to just print individual pages for lesson activities as required.

Sometimes I enlarge a page to A3 and we complete the activity together as a whole class. Of course the whole journal could be printed at A3 size and used as a whole class learning journal.
